Florida has adopted new standards, called Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts and Mathematics, which will impact the way children are taught, how they learn, and how they will be assessed. Florida’s schools will be fully integrated with these standards by school year 2013-2014. By understanding these standards now, students, teachers, and parents, can get a head start on paving the road to success.
The Florida Department of Education is working diligently with school districts across the state to reach our goal of full implementation of these new standards and has developed this tool to measure our progress in obtaining that goal. The Readiness Gauge was developed to help track and share school district progress as preparations are made to provide a robust digital learning environment and full implementation of the Common Core State Standards.
Select the tab for the school level (Elementary, Middle or High) to view the progress occurring in each school district. These maps are updated on a monthly basis. Check back soon and see the map become more green as school districts continue to implement positive transformational shifts in our public education system.
